Forgetting to Ship Before Storage Fees Hit
One of the most common slip-ups new Buyee users make is forgetting about the free 30-day warehouse storage window. After your item arrives at Buyee’s warehouse, the clock starts ticking. If you don’t arrange international shipping or consolidation within those 30 days, daily storage fees kick in. These start around 100 yen per day for smaller packages and can climb based on weight.
Let it slide for too long—up to the 90-day maximum—and your package will be disposed of, with any domestic fees still due. Always keep an eye on your "Package Information" dashboard to track how many free days remain.
Misunderstanding Shipping Costs or Methods
International shipping fees can surprise first-time buyers, especially when volumetric weight comes into play. Even if your package is light, large dimensions could bump it into a more expensive bracket. For instance, a plush toy might cost more to ship than a dense metal figure because of its bulky shape.
Also, some buyers don’t realize that cheaper methods like Surface Mail take 1-3 months, or that SAL is currently suspended to many countries. Before you finalize your order, use Buyee’s shipping fee estimator tool. This helps avoid sticker shock and ensures you pick a delivery speed that suits your patience and budget.
Bidding Too Aggressively or Using Sniper Without Backup
Buyee’s Sniper Bid feature is fantastic—it places your max bid in the final five minutes to avoid early price wars. But it isn’t infallible. Network delays, auction rules, or other users with higher auto-bids can still snag the item. If it’s something rare, consider also setting a manual bid or being prepared to react fast with a follow-up bid if your Sniper doesn’t land.
Additionally, remember that once a bid is placed through Buyee, you usually can’t cancel it. Double-check item descriptions and your max bid before committing.
Payment Issues with PayPal or Wise Refunds
With PayPal, mismatched account details—like different countries between your Buyee and PayPal profiles—can cause transactions to fail. Always ensure your billing info aligns across platforms.
For Buyee Wallet refunds via Wise, know that refunds may be split into smaller amounts for high totals, and Wise fees will come out of the return. If you don’t actively request a refund within 7 days of a failed bid or order, the funds default back into your Buyee Wallet balance instead of being sent to Wise. Keep an eye on your account to manage these flows properly.
