How Buyee’s Package Storage and Consolidation Works

How Long Buyee Stores Packages for Free

Once your items arrive at Buyee’s warehouse, they’re stored free of charge for the first 30 days. This gives you time to wait for other orders to arrive so you can consolidate multiple packages into a single international shipment, saving on shipping fees.

Your storage clock starts from the arrival date of each individual package. All of this is visible in your Buyee "Package Information" dashboard, where you can track arrival dates and remaining free storage days.

Storage Extension Fees After 30 Days

If you don’t ship or consolidate your package within the initial 30-day window, Buyee begins charging daily storage fees based on weight. These fees are small per day but add up over time. For example:

  • Up to 10 kg: 100 yen per day
  • 10-20 kg: 200 yen per day
  • Over 20 kg: 300 yen per day

Storage days are calculated daily at 6 AM Japan time. Also, when packages are being consolidated, packed for protective shipping, or otherwise prepared, these days pause and aren’t counted toward your fee period.

How to Use Package Consolidation

Consolidation lets you combine multiple packages into one box, significantly reducing overall shipping costs. Here’s how it works:

  • On your "My Page," select all the packages you want to consolidate.
  • Click "Apply for Package Consolidation."
  • Buyee staff will combine your items the next business day and update your dashboard with the new weight, dimensions, and adjusted international shipping estimate.

Keep in mind: packages must be in the same warehouse to be eligible for consolidation. If you buy from sellers shipping to different warehouse locations (Japan vs US for example), you can’t merge those items.

Disposal Rules if You Don’t Ship in Time

Buyee imposes a maximum storage period of 90 days. If your package is still sitting there after that time, it will be disposed of. Before disposal, any outstanding storage fees or local shipping charges still need to be settled—Buyee won’t process new bids or shipments for you until past dues are cleared.

If you have packages at risk of disposal, you’ll receive notices via email. The best practice? Always plan to consolidate and ship well before the 90-day mark to avoid loss and unexpected fees.
